If you have these 5 items in it, maybe!
Did you know there’s a huge debate taking place among teenagers on TikTok about how you part your hair? Apparently side partings are ‘old’! Crikey! I’m only in the middle parting camp because of an awful cowlick.
If your hair can age you, then what are your clothes saying about you?
Of course, you can wear whatever you like, at whatever age you are. However, I would be lying if I didn’t say there ARE a few common items in wardrobes that instantly depict a bygone era. And when you wear these styles it can instantly date you.
5 items that could be ageing you
So what are these ageing items? Here are five I recommend evicting from your wardrobe:-
1.Jeggings and tunics
I found this look very useful at the time as it meant you could wear a short dress/ tunic and not expose your legs. You can update this look by wearing a dress over jeans or trousers.
2.Printed jersey wrap dresses
Oh, how we loved these little numbers back in the day. They suited most body shapes and were exceptionally comfortable to wear. If you are lucky enough to own an original Diane Von Funstenburg you could resell it although there are already quite a few on Ebay!
3.The ‘square’ tailored suit from the nineties
Why ‘square’? Many tailored suits had a very masculine shape back then. The trousers and jackets seem designed to fit the blues brothers rather than Bianca Jagger. Thankfully times have changed and women’s tailoring is now designed with women’s figures in mind and is far more flattering.
4.Matching handbag, shoes, earrings and lipstick
According to Trinny you shouldn’t match your lipstick to your outfits. I can’t say I’m not guilty of this! I would suggest matching no more two accessories and off-setting the colour of the other pieces for a modern look.
5.Waterfall wrap cardigans
These were like a comfort blanket as they are warm, comfortable and so very hard to get rid. Try a new chunky boyfriend cardigan instead as you’ll be able to wear it outside and inside the house
Need help decluttering your wardrobe?
Now is the ideal time to declutter and organise your wardrobe ready for sunnier times. It’s the perfect time to strip out tired and out-of-date clothes that no longer make you feel good, and replace them with styles that you love – and make you feel great.
When all said and done this is not about age. It’s about you feel in your clothes. And if your clothes are having a negative effect on your mood it’s time to do something about it.
